In South Australia, a number of high-demand government schools have a school zone or a capacity management plan. Other schools accept students from any address if there is room.

Reception

The first year of school in South Australia is called Reception. Since 2022, Year 7 has been part of high school in SA government schools, matching the rest of Australia.

Checking zones

The department publishes zone maps for zoned schools. Because zones only apply to some schools, check the specific school you are interested in before you move.
